日本、アメリカ、オーストラリア、トルコ出身の9人のミュージシャンがジャパンプレミアで一同に会する。Boston Berklee時代に制作され、20年の時を経てより完成された作品となって甦る。セレンの楽曲は伝統的なジャズの形式に捉われないサウンド。各国のトップミュージシャンによるコラボを御堪能下さい。

Nine of Tokyo’s top musicians from four countries (Japan, USA, Australia, Turkey) come together for the Japan Premiere of Selen Gülün’s jazz combo compositions 20 years after they premiered at the Berklee College of Music in 1997. Gülün’s compositions break down the barriers of the traditional jazz orchestra format. She conducts a fabulous orchestra of acclaimed musicians and also performs with them.

セレン・ギュリュン – SELEN GÜLÜN

作曲家、アレンジャー、ピアニスト、歌手、大学講師。様々な現代音楽のスタイルで、作曲や演奏を行っている。彼女の作曲した楽曲は、母国トルコのみならず、ヨーロッパの12カ国、ブラジル、米国、日本、カンボジア、パキスタン、ロシア、モザンビーク、オーストラリア等、世界20カ国で演奏されている。現在までに6枚のCDアルバを作成。「Answers」は、ディスクユニオンのJazz Tokyo Weekly Chartにて第6位、「Başka」は第4位を獲得。2017年4月にリリースされた「Kadınlar Matinesi」(女性のマチーネ) はトルコの女性作曲家、作詞家の曲を演奏したライブアルバムである。イタリア人Marcello AllulliとEmanuele De Raymondiと共に、Gülünはこの3名のコラボによる新たなプロジェクトを開始し(Gülün/ Allulli/ De Raymondi)、KAPI（トルコで「ドア」という意味）を2016年11月にイタリアのレーベルEvArtからリリース、2017年2月にはインターネットでも配信されました。セレンの楽曲はDartford Symphony Orchestra とVellinger String Quartet (イギリス), Phil Wilson’s Rainbow Band (米国), Ensemble TRIS (オーストリア), sa.ne.na Percussion Ensemble とIstanbul Modern Music Ensemble (トルコ)によって初演されている。Charles Mingus Composition Award 1998をはじめ、British Council Visiting Arts: Creative Collaboration in Music 2003、Fondazione Donna Fondazione Adkins Chiti: Donne in Musica’s Artist in Residence Award 2011等、数多くの賞を受賞してきた。現在は、2017年に出版予定の「Woman Composers of Turkey」 (「トルコの女性作曲家」)、ローマのFondazione Adkins Chitiによって委託されたを執筆中。イスタンブール大学国立コンサーバトリーで音楽を学んだ後、イスタンブール大学経営学科を卒業。その後、イスタンブールのミマール・シナン大学国立コンサーバトリーにて、さらに音楽教育を受ける。1996年、奨学生としてバークリー音楽大学に進学。1998年同校のジャズ作曲学科を首席卒業。イスタンブールに帰国後、2003年にはイスタンブール工科大学のCenter of Advanced Studies in Music (MIAM)にて修士号を取得した。彼女はまた、教育者として今もオズイェイン大学およびビルギ大学で教壇に立っており、1998～2015年には、ビルギ大学音楽科にてピアノ、音楽理論、および作曲の教鞭をとっていた。Berklee College of MusicとThe New School (米国), Malmö Academy of Music（スウェーデン）, Utrecht School of the Arts（オランダ）, TEDx Bogazici University（トルコ）において、ニュー・ミュージックとコンテンポラリー・ミュージックに関する講演を、行うなど、ミュージシャンと同時に

SELEN GÜLÜN
As a leading contemporary musician in Turkey, Selen Gülün combines her Western music education and her Turkish soul in her work as composer, pianist, vocalist, and arranger. She attained critical acclaim internationally with her music performed in 20 countries around the world including the USA, Brazil, Japan, Cambodia, Pakistan, Mozambique, Australia, and 12 countries in Europe. Gülün has released six albums: Just About Jazz Live (recjazz, 2005), Selen Gülün Trio Sürprizler (recjazz, 2006), Selen Gülün by Selen Gülün (re:konstruKt, 2009), Answers (pozitif, 2010), Başka (linrecords,2013), Kadinlar Matinesi (A.K. Müzik, 2017). Answers reached #6 and Başka reached #4 in the Jazz Tokyo Weekly Chart. Gülün / Allulli / De Raymondi’s improvisational electroacoustic album KAPI (which means “door” in Turkish) was published by the Italian label EvArt in November 2016 and released on digital platforms in February 2017. Her compositions have been premiered by Dartford Symphony Orchestra and Vellinger String Quartet (UK), Phil Wilson’s Rainbow Band (USA), Ensemble TRIS (Austria), sa.ne.na Percussion Ensemble, and Istanbul Modern Music Ensemble (Turkey). She has received many awards including Charles Mingus Composition Award 1998, British Council Visiting Arts: Creative Collaboration in Music 2003, Fondazione Donna Fondazione Adkins Chiti: Donne in Musica’s Artist in Residence Award 2011. She is working on a book commissioned by Fondazione Adkins Chiti in Rome, entitled “Woman Composers of Turkey” that will be published in 2017. She studied music at Istanbul University and the Mimar Sinan University State Conservatories and graduated from Istanbul University’s Business Administration Department. She received her B.A. in Jazz Composition summa cum laude from the Berklee College of Music in Boston (1998) and Master’s in Music from Istanbul Technical University’s Center of Advanced Studies in Music (MIAM). She taught Piano Performance, Music Theory, and Composition at Istanbul Bilgi University’s Music Department from 1998 to 2015. She has given lectures on new music and contemporary music at the Berklee College of Music (Boston), The New School (New York), the Malmö Academy of Music, the Utrecht School of the Arts, TEDx Bogazici University among others.
